The
...Native Plants
Correct!

A plant available for sale at a local nursery is not necessarily native.  In fact, I've purchased some locally that I later found out were considered invasive.  Finding native plants is not always easy, but we all know we should not remove them from the wild to bring them to our yards.  Perhaps some of the links below can help you in your search.

When habitat is destroyed, the native plants on which the wildlife feeds are no longer available to them and some plants, like some animals, are becoming endangered.  Obviously, we don't want to let that happen.

Aside from the obvious benefits to wildlife, native plants are hardier as they were "born" here and adapted to the conditions in your yard and we all have better things to do than to nursemaid a plant not suited to the climate, soil, etc.  We could be out photographing wildlife or somethng!

Many states have their own native plant sites, so you can check there as well.
